The Clady River
(or do we mean Knockoneill?)
The Clady River in full flood with the original, listed beetling Mill.
Jan 2021

'That river' that runs through Swatragh and Upperlands is referenced under two names, depending on your position on the river.
Confusing??
To clarify things here is how we shall address the matter.
1. They are (!!) the same river!
2. The river upstream from the Upperlands Bridge is The Knockoneill.
3. The river downstream of the Upperlands bridge is The Clady.
The map below shows the river from its rising in the Sperrins and its journey through or passing Swatragh, Upperlands, Innisrush, Clady before joining the Bann just north of Portglenone.
